This year, I have learned many things in areas like Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and many more. In math, I learned many new skills.My skills in sucking will be showcased through out my whole portfolio. In L.A., I also learned a lot of new things, from similes, to how writing EXPLORE responses. These are just some of the things that I will be talking about, and I don't want to bore you, so lets get started.
Two things I am good at are dividing and multiplying fractions, and writing responses about something I have experienced, or read/watched.
Two things I need to improve on are catching up on the days I have leadership, and converting decimals into fractions.
Over the next 6 weeks of school, I want to get better at these skills and learn many more skills. I also want to get at least 90% in all of my subjects. I think I can achieve these by doing my homework and listening in class.
Math
Term 1 Reflection
In term one, we learned many things. One of the things I learned was ratios, rates and proportions. A ratio is a thing that compares two quantities in the same unit. For example, red cars:blue cars 1:2. A rate compares two quantities measured in different units. For example, $12.00/100g. Proportional reasoning is a relationship that says two are equal. I also learned about squaring, square roots, prime factorization, and Pythagoras. Squaring is multiplying a number by itself. For example, 2x2 or 3x3. The product of squaring will always be a perfect square. Square roots are a way to find a factor of a number. Prime factorization is basically like factor trees. You use them to find factors of a number. The Pythagorean relationship says a2+b2=c2 meaning that if you square the two legs of a right triangle, you get the length of c2 or the hypotenuse.
I’ve got to be honest, I maybe did my homework only like 80% of the time. Maybe in term 2 I should do more homework so it can also help me improve my mark. I could also comment more because i did not comment on a lot of the scribes. I hope i could get a higher mark in term 2.

Term 2 Reflection In term 2, overall, I did pretty good on everything. This included things like surface area, volume, and percents. I think I did well is mainly because I listen when the teacher is talking.One thing I didn’t do well in was checking my work. There was this one question for volume that I thought it said you were supposed to put the clothes in the drawer. I will improve in the next term by reading the question more than once. In percent, I learned that to find tax, you have to multiply a number by 1.12. In surface area, I learned how to find the surface area of a rectangular prism (draw all the sides of the shape,multiply the measurements then add up all the products), triangular prism (draw all the sides of the shape, multiply all the measurements, divide the products by two, and then add), and cylinder (use formula, (2πr²)+(2rπh)). Now in volume, I learned the formulas to find the volume of a rectangular prism(v=lxwxh), triangular prism (v=bxh1xh2/2) and cylinder (v=πr²xh) Now, what exactly is the difference between volume and surface area. Well, surface area is finding how many units are outside of something. An example of a question with surface area is, “How many gift wrap is needed to cover the product?”. Now, for volume, your finding how many units are inside. A question using volume is something like “ How many water is in the pipe?” .
3) I can relate to “The Man Who Planted Trees” in many ways. First, like Elzéard, I am a man concerned about the environment. Why shouldn't I be? It gives us many resources that allow us to live. At my school, I remember the elementary kids planting trees around the play structure. This is also like Elzéard. 5) I think there are many reasons why people and organizations approach the environment. One reason, probably the best of all, is because some people plant trees just for the sake of the environment. I said that this reason was probably the best because these people aren’t looking for the money, they just want to make a brighter future. Another reason is just to bribe the people for votes for something like an election. I’ve seen politicians like this, they say they want to be green to the environment, but once they win the election, what happens to that idea? It never happens. On the other hand, there are the people who cut down trees for the money. I could imagine that paper making is a big business, so many companies probably cut down a lot of trees. The thing about this is that they often do not plant more trees after, and that really harms the environment. 6) Jean - Jean treated the forest like a second home. He always came there after his wars and see how Elzéard and his forest were doing. The charcoal burners - They did not care about the forest. Elzéard Bouffier - Elzéard treated the forest with a lot of care. It was his home and his life. He would plant trees every day until he had a huge forest. Elzéard’s tree planting was enough to revive a nearby village Government Official - The government official wanted the forest just for the fame and fortune . Member of Parliament - The Member of Parliament used the forest as something to get votes. He declared that it belonged to the people of France. At the time of World War II, he suggested that the trees should be cut down for steam trains. Timber merchants - They were greedy Villagers - The villagers did not know who made the forest. 10) Trees affect the local level because it is used to make fire. It is also used for things like furniture, and tools. On a global level, trees produce oxygen which helps us breathe.

INTENT: Why am I completing this assignment? There are several reasons why I am doing this writing assignment. First I learned the elements of a short story and learned to identify them in our story. Next, we learned the components to write in a friendly letter format. Then, specific story details and wrote in the first person as if we were a character from the short story. CRITERIA: How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment?
Use proper Friendly Letter format referring to letter frame
compose the rough copy letter using specific details from the short story and write the letter from the perspective of one of the main characters in the story
remember to use appropriate tone and audience for the letter
· complete all the steps in the writing process as set out in the assignment directions

Dear Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones, I am sincerely sorry for trying to steal your pocketbook. What I did was extremely wrong. I tried stealing it to get a pair of blue suede shoes, and Ma’am believe me, I have learned my lesson and I shall not commit another crime ever again.
You fed me lima beans, ham, cocoa, and ten cent cake, told me to wash my face, made me look presentable, and even gave me $10 to buy blue suede shoes. I honestly do not know how to repay you. When you told me, “ I have done things, too”, you made me realize that not everyone is perfect, and that there was still hope to become a better man. You could have turned me in to the police, but instead you forgave me.
Once again, I am truly sorry. I wish I could say more, but right now, all I can say is thank you. Everything you said to me that night meant so much to me. I failed, but you picked me up and got me back on track. Thank you, Ma’am.

INTENT: Why am I completing this assignment?
There are several reasons why I completed this assignment. First this assignment helped me comprehend visually how the Cro-Magnons lived. Also this assignment helped me to create a visual organizer which is one way of representing your idea. Finally the assignment helped me to prepare me for the unite test by serving as a study guide of Cro-Magnon life.
CRITERIA: How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment?
